Secondary plasma cell leukemia: Case report

Plasma cell leukemia (PCL) is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder characterized by monoclonal proliferation of plasma cells in marrow and peripheral blood. It defined blood count greater than 2 G/l or 20% white cells. There are two forms PCL: primary PCL (primary PCL-P), which occurs de novo diagnosed dissemination, secondary (secondary SPL), the result evolution multiple myeloma (MM). We report an observation 42-year-old female patient at hematology laboratory Mohamed VI University Hospital Marrakech. The was being followed up for chronic end-stage renal failure whom etiological assessment hypercalcemia fortuitous discovery revealed MM she put on chemotherapy according to Velcade-Thalidomide-Dexamethasone protocol with good after 6 courses. Two half years later, presented anemia spinal pain. biological work-up showed normocytic normochromic 5.4 g/dl 150 mg/l. smear presence 22% circulating cells, majority were dystrophic, favor leukemia. Patients who have undergone treatment stable disease should regular surveillance, hence interest examination all myeloma.
